  2. Broken teeth
  3. Removal of gaps (diastema)
  4. Tooth rotation
  5. Resizing of teeth that are smaller than normal in size
  6. Correction of oblique teeth
  7. Spots and stains associated with antibiotics

BENEFITS OF BONDING

  1. Completed in a single session
  2. Cost-effective
  3. Easy to repair
  4. Little to no tooth abrasion

SHOULD I PREFER COMPOSITE OR PORCELAIN LAMINATE?

  1. Both bonding and porcelain laminates have pros and cons. The final decision should be made by the patient based on an assessment of the benefits and disadvantages, and the dental professional’s recommendation.
  2. Composite laminates are done in a single session. Porcelain laminates however may take several sessions to complete.
  3. Porcelain laminates are much more expensive than composite laminates.
  4. Porcelain laminates last much longer compared to composite laminates.
  5. Owing to their shiny surface, porcelain laminates are more aesthetic and become less stained over time.
  6. In case of damage, repair is faster and more cost-effective while the process is longer in the case of porcelain laminates.

HOW LONG DO COMPOSITE LAMINATES LAST?

The longevity of composite laminates depend on the patient’s oral or dental care habits, nutrition, and the frequency of their appointments for dental check-up. Hard foods such as hard shell nuts should not avoided. The bonding should be checked on yearly basis at check-up appointments and polished if necessary.
